Hey, I'm Sophie
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
A few years ago, I relocated here with my family. What started as a temporary contract slowly turned into a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Began
Moving to Netherlands wasn't in the master plan. Like many international relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.
The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, met other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Created Lucid Cabin View
Most online information hovered around corporate relocation tips or shallow tourism content. What was missing was a sincere, everyday family viewpoint.
This site exists to fill that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Netherlands.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Practical insights from life in Netherlands
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Netherlands continues, and so does the learning process. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Amsterdam or anywhere in Netherlands, don't hesitate to reach out.
Cheers,
Sophie
